Leaving On A Jet Plane

Finally! Yes, the summer holiday has officially begun! Packed on Saturday and twiddled our thumbs for as long as possible on Sunday...

We left home just before 7pm on Sunday 17th June and took the A10 bus to Hong Kong International Airport. While this is one of the longer routes we could take, I let Oliver choose... and he likes watching the world go by. It's also cheaper so I wasn't complaining!! Arrived at the airport by 8:15pm, then checked in and through customs within twenty minutes.

We did a little bit of shopping and then headed to Pizza Express for some food...

Flight left just before midnight... Oli knows the drill, so immediately got himself sorted with the inflight entertainment system - he is SO easy to travel with now! He didn't sleep till about 3am! Flight was pretty easy and before long it was time to LAND! Landed 5:10am UK time and a chilly 12 degrees. Perfect - I love the cooler temperatures. It was rather wet to... these pics were taken just outside the terminal building while we were waiting for shuttle bus to hire car place.

Picked up car and left Heathrow by 6:30am. Started the drive to Mum and Dad's... and Oliver was asleep within seconds. A quick whizz down the M4 and then a much slower whizz on the A406 - amazing there was a lot of traffic even at that time in the morning! Arrived 'home' just before 8am. Excellent!

So good to see Mum and Dad again and Katie, Greg and Rosie came round and Oliver and his cousin were soon playing merrily together. Thanks to Skype, Oliver talks to them all every week, so there was none of that awkwardness that comes from not seeing your relatives for so long! Oliver's first mission was to play in the garden - whoop whoop!!! 

And puddles were just way too tempting to leave alone! 

Another thing I love about being here is that (of course) Mum and Dad have a REAL sized kitchen with a REAL oven!!!!! So... first day back, I couldn't resist - made a yummy Vegetable Korma... chock-a-block with no less than EIGHT veggies and fruits! Yummmm....

Sleep came easy by 6:30pm... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
