A mini journal of our trip into the New Forest...
Monday 25th June 2012
Drove 100 miles (almost exactly!) from London to the New Forest. Most spectacular on the journey, when we had almost arrived, were the 'wild' New Forest ponies. Arrived at Sandy Balls Holiday Centre and met up with good friends Gillian, Fuad, Sophia and Shadia.
Tuesday 26th June 2012
In the morning, Oliver and Sophia joined in the 'Biscuits and Baskets' activity - ice four rich tea biscuits and decorate with sweets. In the afternoon they went to the Activity Room to join in 'Clay Play'. A massive slab of clay to play with and make whatever you like. I just let Oliver do whatever he wanted... he loved the slip (clay equivalent of glue) best of all and got pretty messy - FUN, FUN, FUN!
Wednesday 27th June 2012
First thing in the morning we were off back to the Activity Room for Tie Dye! Oliver and Sophia got busy with pebbles and elastic bands and created their own tie dye t-shirts. We left them soaking in dye and went for a nature walk. Down a steep hill, climbed up (and then down) the 'sandy balls' (not sandy and not balls!)... then through the forest to the river. We walked all the way back up again too - a lovely walk in GREEN with FRESH air! Back to the Activity Room to collect the shirts, then back to the lodge for a relaxing afternoon of reading and DVDs!

Probably our busiest (and sunniest) day!
We swam in the indoor pool for an hour in the morning. Lovely heated pool... Oliver is definitely getting more confident in the water, although still a novice swimmer. After lunch we headed to nearby stables where we had a tour of the stables and then Oliver and Sophia went riding on two of the ponies. Oliver's pony was called... Oliver! After a short rest, Gillian took Sophia and Oliver to the adventure playground. For our final meal we had 'Pizza in the Piazza'... YUM!
Friday 29th June 2012
We said our goodbyes and left Sandy Balls at 9:30am and started the hundred-mile drive back to London. Arrived home at noon. Tired but very, very happy.
